So you've been sober for awhile. You're starting to feel better about yourself. You get the car back, the significant other back, the job back, and all of a sudden you find yourself losing your balance on this new way of life that you've come to learn. You're caught on a slippery slope.
Time goes by and one night you have to work late. You're "too busy" to go to one of your recovery meetings. Going out to dinner sounds a lot better than going to your weekly meetings or therapy groups. You tell yourself you'll go next week. But next week comes, and you have to catch up on binge watching that new Netflix show.
On the outside everything looks good, but on the inside you're a complete mess. That drink or drug looks a little bit more alluring today than it did yesterday. You think, just one hit won't hurt, right? I'll just have one drink. Nobody will know.. You're priorities have gone out the window. The next morning you're kicking yourself, asking yourself how you could have fallen back into the grips of your addiction?
Relapse is not an isolated event. The relapse process is marked by predictable and identifiable warning signs that begin long before the actual relapse occurs.
I had to learn the hard way. I've relapsed time and time again, but each time I learned from it. I was able to look back and see where I fell short.
The good news is, we don't have to fall into those pitfalls again. This 7 day course is designed to interrupt the relapse progression long before you get there.
I am an entrepreneur, Certified Alcohol and Drug Addiction Counselor, (CADC) avid writer, and recovery advocate. I was born and raised in Irvine, CA and currently live in South Florida. I'm lead content strategist at SoberNation and your relapse prevention coach for the next seven days.
